Wayfire might be a way towards port to Wayland.
This can be considered once rebasing to the next major version of Debian 13 / trixie gets blessed stable by Debian.

It seems Wayfire is “only” a compositor. It is not a complete desktop environment. I haven’t found a Wayfire based desktop environment for Debian.
It’s not clear to me if some functionality that a desktop environment usually provides such as changing desktop resolution, changing audio volume, changing screen gamma, could be attained by installing alternative packages from other Wayland capable desktop environment (GNOME, KDE, LXDE, LXQt, …).
I would assume so but it needs to be researched.
