Gathering Feedback of new Whonix Homepage Draft

Originally published at: News - Whonix Forum
We have been discussing a new Whonix homepage (old) and new Whonix download page (old) for a while now. The draft has been created by Ego and we are now be counseled by ura design, Elio Qoshi (@elioqoshi) (who has recently refined Whonix logo).

Please keep your feedback specific to the new Whonix homepage.

The new Whonix homepage draft can be found here:

Elio’s latest suggestion can be found here:

(We agreed to finish the visual changes before the text gets improved.)

Other than that, we are also considering to replace mediawiki.

First of all good job. Nice, clean layout. I have a few suggestions:

Aesthetics:

  • A very slight enlargement of the Whonix logo.

  • I feel the light blue backdrop of the top banner is a bit over used by software sites in general see: https://syncthing.net/. Can you please try a mock-up with a light green gradient? The download button is good as it is.

  • The light brown bottom banner in the bottom can benefit from changing to a shade of green matching the top banner - solid fill not gradient.

  • The icon for “isolation” can look like a vault door.

  • The compatibility icon can have a miniature Debian logo on it cut out like stencil on the puzzle piece.

Wording:

  • “Keep your anonymity with Whonix” can be better read “Protect your privacy with Whonix”

  • Avoid the word free because its ambiguous →
“A libre software and open network…”

Good day,

Do you mean larger in regards to what is currently on http://egobits1.github.io/ or what you may see in @elioqoshi’s suggestion?

Sure, in general we can and should play arround a bit with the color squeme employed and then decide on a final draft.

Sure, like I’ve said before, testing a bit until we find a sweet spot is probably a good approach.

Like @Patrick said, the wording will be improved once a visual base has been created.

Have a nice day,

Ego

Yes the one in Elio’s suggestion.

OK

Again I think you guys did a phenomenal job improving it over the status quo. These are just the small improvements that come to mind.
