DAITA from Mullvad vs ISP

Hi folks!

It is well known that it is difficult to hide the Whonix / Tor traffic from our ISP even if we use VPN (DPI, etc) on the host: Hide Tor use from the Internet Service Provider

I wonder if the DAITA function from Mullvad (introduced recently and constantly developed) can effectively prevent VPN analysis (when the traffic Tor is inside): Introducing Defense against AI-guided Traffic Analysis (DAITA) | Mullvad VPN

What do you think?

It’s a shame that it is only in beta and for Windows. I would test it on Linux later

Thank you for sending links!
It seems that Mullvad has implemented Maybenot framework in its DAITA function and actively participates in its development:

@Patrick
I meant the question of whether DAITA / Maybenot working on the Host can prevent Tor detection inside VPN by my ISP (if he uses DPI or other advanced methods).

According to the descriptions for Maybenot and DAITA, that’s what these tools serve:

  • Constant Packet Sizes
  • Random background traffic
  • Data Pattern Distortion

Perhaps this is the only method of effective hiding transmitted data inside VPN? (including Tor signatures from Whonix-Gateway with Virtualbox)
