Why so strict on older versions?

First of all, thanks to all who work(ed) on Whonix, I’ve been using it for years now without issues (until now).

I started using it again recently and realized XFCE was traded in for LXQt to make the move to Wayland. I immediately noticed that this broke clipboard sharing and this was confirmed by reading the forum.

This feature is an absolute must-have for me because it breaks my workflow to have to constantly use shared txt files instead.

I wanted to download the previous version which I saw wasn’t out of support yet and as of writing still has about a few weeks to go. I then realized Whonix only supports one download which is for the most recent version.

I’d like to humbly request for it to be able to download the oldstable version until the day it is deprecated. I don’t see any reason to not have it since until that day it is still being supported by security updates.

I’d also like to make a point of critique as I find it quite irresponsible to push Wayland without warning and break a feature that is critical to the workflow of many users, and have this version be the only one available.

The reason is maintainability.
