Whonix Anonymous Operating System Version 11 Released!

Whonix is an operating system focused on anonymity, privacy and security. It’s based on the Tor anonymity network, Debian GNU/Linux and security by isolation. DNS leaks are impossible, and not even malware with root privileges can find out the user’s real IP.

Whonix consists of two parts: One solely runs Tor and acts as a gateway, which we call Whonix-Gateway. The other, which we call Whonix-Workstation, is on a completely isolated network. Only connections through Tor are possible.

Forum Discussion:

Where are the download links? Can only see old version

Nope, those links point still to the files…

Newest version nothing has changed/added since development version released in june?

Same as News - Whonix Forum.

great job

but i wonder why this good announcement wrote inside whonix support section ? thought the new versions announced inside whonix development like always.

in the end, well done for the stable release  .

Good question. Stable release announcements have always been posted in the support forum, because they apply to anyone. And because anyone before wondering about something should update to the latest version. I would hope people interested in development also read Whonix important blog News - Whonix Forum [and more].

Great news Patrick & thanks.

I’ve download the torrent version of the Gateway & Workstation Virtualbox appliances - both files’ hashes were fine - but when I verify with the signature - I get bad signature for both. I used command line & gui on Linux Mint 17.2 Cinnamon.

Any ideas? They both import & seem to work fine in VirtualBox.

Did you download
Whonix-Gateway- can verify Whonix-Gateway-

Whonix-Gateway- can verify Whonix-Gateway-

Whonix-Gateway- cannot verify Whonix-Gateway-

I downloaded the 2 torrents from the main download page, Whonix ™ for Windows, macOS, Linux inside VirtualBox :

https://www.whonix.org/download/ with
https://www.whonix.org/download/ with

And these signatures do check out?

OK - I now downloaded the following signatures:

These DO check out successfully against the torrents.

So just to clarify, the following signatures DO NOT check out for the torrents:

They are the ones linked under the 2 Torrent Download links.

I am still not sure we are not talking past each other.

Please post the exact gpg verify commands you entered the their output. In the following format.

gpg --verify Whonix-Gateway- Whonix-Gateway- gpg: Signature made Mon 15 Jun 2015 10:03:19 PM UTC using RSA key ID 77BB3C48 gpg: Good signature from "Patrick Schleizer <adrelanos@riseup.net>" [ultimate]

gpg --verify Whonix-Workstation- Whonix-Workstation- gpg: Signature made Mon 15 Jun 2015 10:35:33 PM UTC using RSA key ID 77BB3C48 gpg: Good signature from "Patrick Schleizer <adrelanos@riseup.net>" [ultimate]
