Whonix 15 - install routine - password prompt

Dears’s,

I have installed Whonix15 with the maintainer option. Question…; Right or wrong?

I do not have a password query when I update or upgrade as with Whonix 14?

Did I do something wrong?

Best Regards!

Do you mean you installed the testing version?

It would be right if you want to do some testing for Whonix.

It would probably be wrong if you’re using it regular use.

Whonix 15 now allows unprivileged updating. It’s expected.

Two things.

  • There is upgrade-nonroot (see man upgarde-nonroot).
  • sudo (by Debian default) caches passwords for a certain amount of
time so it does not have the be re-entered from the same terminal
    (emulator) all the time.
