[WARNING] running "sudo setup-dist" on gateway - [WARNING] [systemcheck] Environment variables test result: Missing environment variable WHONIX=1

Just installed Whonix on virt-manager.

When I start a terminal on the Whonix-Gateway an run “sudo setup-dist” I get the following warning:

[WARNING] [systemcheck] Environment variables test result: Missing environment variable WHONIX=1. This indicates that other environment variables might be missing as well.

Any idea how to solve this problem?

Then the wiki needs to point out that the package needs be be installed. Otherwise this will be highly confusing for users. I updated the instructions just now: KVM, Command Line Interface (CLI) Is this now complete? No more steps from the forums required? sudo setup-dist: Is this still required? Should no longer be required in recent releases. Post How do I enter the whonix shell from cli - #3 by HulaHoop also shows KVM XML modifications. Does the user need to do the XML edit?

Anything not working without running that? In that case, just don’t run it.

If you don’t need it, don’t run it.

Thanks for a quick reply and sorry its my bad. I followed the GUI installation and somehow ended up doing the “sudo setup-dist” from the CLI installation.
