Vpn on a router compared to sys-vpn

I use the Qubes system. I always created a sys-vpn virtual machine and set it as the netvm of my sys-whonix virtual machine. The purpose of this was to hide Tor from my ISP. I am familiar with the discussions about the sense (or lack thereof) of hiding the Tor from ISPs that took place here on the forum and on the internet in general.

I would like to change my current configuration. I want to start using a vpn on my router instead of creating the previously mentioned sys-vpn. Are there any additional risks to using a vpn on your router compared to using the previously mentioned sys-vpn?

Nothing on top of what is mentioned on Combining Tunnels with Tor or related linked wiki pages.

Combining Tunnels with Tor does not contain any information about using a vpn on your router. So I assume that using a vpn on a router does not carry any additional risk compared to using sys-vpn.

Are you referring to the links that are on the Combining Tunnels with Tor website ?

I don’t know anything about the quality of implementation of a fail-close mechanism / leak tests of any routers.

Yes.
