Hi
I try to setup onion service for ssh access to workstation using /wiki/Remote_Administration(I am sorry, links are not allowed)
I am on Whonix 17
looking through the forum I believe this documentation assumes that
/usr/local/etc/torrc.d/50_user.conf
will be picked up by
/etc/torrc.d/95_whonix.conf
that should contain
%include /usr/local/etc/torrc.d/
unfortunately I don’t even have /etc/torrc.d/
my whonix was downloaded and set-up just yesterday so I assume that’s not a problem of an “older version”
how do I fix it?
it seems like I can get /etc/torrc.d/ by installing anon-gw-anonymizer-config
I am not even sure it is a good idea
what is that and why it is not part of the distribution?
well it is
but part of gateway
what I do not understand?
ok, I think I slowly get it.
I setup the onion service always on gateway
regardless if I want top point to SSH (or any other service) on gateway or on workstation.
ok, finally got it to work
yes - definitely onion service need to run on gateway.
I mean - that’s 100% logical,
unless you read the remote administration section randomly without context
