Hello, this is my first time using whonix, i installed it on virtualbox 6.1.12 and my computer OS is windows 10.
Before launching the browser on workstation, the only thing i did was to make the suggested updates.
“… Please update Whonix-Gateway and Whonix-Workstation: (Open a terminal, Start Menu -> System -> Terminal.) sudo apt-get-update-plus dist-upgrade”
after that i tried to launch the browser from the workstation but i got the “/usr/bin/torbrowser script bug.” error
I tried to launch it through the terminal, but got the same error
cp: failed to access ‘/home/user/.tb/tor-browser’: Permission denied
[ERROR] [torbrowser] /usr/bin/torbrowser script bug.
No panic. Nothing is broken. Just some rare condition has been hit.
Try again later. If this is a transient issue, it can be safely ignored.
There is likely a solution for this problem.
- Please see the Whonix News. ##
- Whonix User Help Forum. ##
- And Whonix Documentation. ##
It may or may not be possible to fix but further information may be required.
- Try start from command line. ##
- Try start from command line with debugging enabled. ##
- If you don’t mind to repair that Tor Browser install, reinstall of Tor Browser would also likely solve this. ##
BASH_COMMAND: cp --verbose --recursive --no-clobber “/var/cache/tb-binary/$tb_install_folder_dot/$tb_browser_name” “$tb_browser_folder”
output_opts: --icon /usr/share/icons/anon-icon-pack/tbupdate.ico --parentpid 9745 --identifier torbrowser --parenttty /dev/pts/1 --whoami user
bash -x torbrowser
launching it in debug mode i get this message
“bash: /home/user/.tb/tor-browser/Browser/start-tor-browser: Permission denied”
I checked the directory from the file manger, but the “.tb” directory on “/home/user/” is empty i don’t know if this means anything…
This is what i get from whonixcheck
