Tor Messenger is NO LONGER MAINTAINED as of March 2018

So i wanted the latest version of Tor Messenger until i saw that there were no releases on github since September 2017 https://dist.torproject.org/tormessenger/current/

I then came across this where they announced that it is no longer maintained since March 2018.
They link to the announcement post here: https://blog.torproject.org/sunsetting-tor-messenger
However that announcement does not exist anymore.

Unless this is an April fools joke, im pretty sure this needs to be removed from the chat apps suggested by Whonix. Any alternatives??

Thanks for the heads up. Not sure why it’s not being picked up but disappointing regardless. It’s been awhile since I compared IM clients but IIRC Gajim & CoyIM are active (OTR/OMEMO) projects that might be worth a look.

i am concerned here as well. the edits to the wiki page were made by sukhbir 2 days ago.

Blog post is back up: https://blog.torproject.org/sunsetting-tor-messenger

sukhibir recommends decentralized messaging. Gives a nod to coyIM for xmpp.

Wiki updated.
