Tor Browser Downloader fails to download

Hey,

New to Whonix, downloaded and installed it on Win10 - VirtualBox. Everything seemed to install & self configure fine but every time I try to download Tor it fails at about 80%.

Message: ERROR: Failed to download: https://dist.project.org/torbrowser/6.0.6/tor-browser-linux32-6.0.6_en-US.tar.xz

Possible reasons:

The download server is down
File size exceeded (endless data attack triggered)
Tor browser downloader (by Whonix developers) has been broken due to upstream changes

Recommends: Trying later (on day 2 now) Check news - No info (https://www.whonix.org/wiki/Stay_tuned)
Manually update, go to page https://www.whonix.org/wiki/Manually_updating_tor_browser - No info

Debug info: curl_status_message: [28] - Operation time out. The specified time-out period was reached according to the conditions.

Can anyone advise?
(This is the first time on Whonix and 14 yrs since using Linux)

Thanks

and then it works

The URL looks wrong. Please use copy and paste next time.

Please don’t substitute writing Tor when you mean Tor Browser or the confusion will be perfect. ( Tor Browser Essentials )

Just installed VirtualBox-5.1.10-112026-Win.exe, loaded and started Whonix on Win 7. Everything appears to be working correctly except TorBrowser. So, I followed the prompts to update TBB 6.08. After at least 2 hours, I get the following message:

ERROR: Failed to download: https://dist.torproject.org/torbrowser/6.0.8/tor-browser-linux32-6.0.8_en-US.tar.xz

Any help?

How do you know this? Did you run whonixcheck on your Workstation?

If you have a slow connection, you might be timing out during download process. Read the full error message. If it says Operation timeout, try this: "Tor Browser Downloader" cancels the download with an error message - #7 by Patrick

Or install manually: Tor Browser: Manual Download
