Hello. I started up Whonix-Gateway VMs after not opening for a long time. It is taking a while to fully bootstrap. I am okay with this for the first gateway VM, but for all other gateway VMs, should I run sudo anon-consensus-del
to speed up the process?
No. Please just wait full connect to Tor network. May be 1-5 minutes for 128kb/sec. If longer – restart tor
Thank you. Every time I restart VM it does the same. It has been more than an hour and I am nearly halfway bootstrapped. But it is moving along, if ever so slowly.
For more background, I did restart Tor, and bandwidth speed seems acceptable. It is syncing directory information, and looking for microdescriptors. This has been going on for multiple hours. Any ideas on how to speed up or is it best to let Tor run its course? If the latter, I don’t think it’s practical for all other gateway VMs because of the duration so far.
This topic is relevant - Tor bootstrapping takes a very long time - 90 minutes / 1 h 30 min
Did some tweaking and now it is working perfectly. Think it may have had something to do with filtered ports.
