Teleguard network

Hi,
Im trying to run Teleguard from the latest version of Whonix.
When I’m trying to create an account it fails with “No connection to server”
I installed teleguard with snap. Also tried session and it worked without issue.

I have no idea what Teleguard is, so I cannot really help you.

However, you can read Install Additional Software Safely for more information, which may or may not help you. There is also commentary on snaps as a distribution method at

Could be this issue:

Seems to be this software:

Try installing the deb package instead:

https://pub.teleguard.com/teleguard-desktop-latest.deb

I tried that teleguard, and after some problems requiring installing dependencies, now it says only:

/sys/firmware/dmi/tables/smbios_entry_point: Permission denied
/dev/mem: Permission denied

I’m not a Linux expert, but I find out that it wants to access the table with system hardware informations. Why would it need to read hardware informations on PC? Is there reasonable case for messaging app accessing hardware info, or it’s something shady going on here (like fingerprinting device) ?

Non-freedom software / proprietary / closed source? →

If that’s the case indeed (i didn’t attempt to reproduce this and probably won’t bother with closed source software either), that is highly unusual indeed.
