sudo setup-wizard-dist - WARNING: Environment variables test result: Missing environment variable WHONIX=1

After updating Virtual Box to 7 and downloading the most recent version of whonix, I am still having issues with the installation of the gateway server.

Everything looks good. System check returns fine but when I run sudo setup-wizard-dist I get the following error:

WARNING: Environment variables test result: Missing environment variable WHONIX=1. This indicates that other environment variables might be missing as well.

I have searched the forums, but I have not found any information. I also looked at the basic documentation but didn’t find anything. I am overall a beginner so I may misunderstand, but I’m worried about the system being potential compromised with the missing variables.

Why you’re even doing that?

You shouldn’t run GUI applications with sudo

I have improved the source code for all GUI tools developed under the Kicksecure, Whonix umbrella. In a future update (Version 17.2.2.0 and above) this will error out instead.
