Running Android Apps inside Whonix-Workstation - Waydroid

This topic similar to anbox but since anbox is now deprecated, Waydroid looks good alternative.

Issues im facing when installing waydroid on whonix:

Downloading waydroid will give early failure:

Found a solution by using -f on previous ticket:

"Already initialized" after `waydroid init` fails due to image hash mismatch

I happened to stumble on a moment when SourceForge was under some maintenance an…d trying to download the image resulted in downloading a HTML page telling me to "try again later". Make Waydroid Tor Friendly

Please describe.** The issue is… that Waydroid images are only being downloaded from SourceForge, which is an unreliable source to choose when downloading files over Tor sadly because it consistently blocks Tor connections. One option could be to incorporate the use of --xyz.com to download waydroid image from alternative mirrors. And, if feasible, downloading waydroid via Tor hidden services using --onion. **Additional context** Im contributor to [Whonix Anonymous OS](https://www.whonix.org/) which is debian based, we also encourage users if they want to have android apps [[1]](https://forums.whonix.org/t/running-android-apps-inside-whonix-workstation-anbox-proof-of-concept/7441) [[2]](https://www.whonix.org/wiki/Anbox) working on gnu/linux and torified system to consider Whonix as their preferable option.
