I’m trying to move my Whonix installation from VirtualBox to qemu and I followed the passages from Whonix for KVM but still I can’t connect to Tor. It’s always stuck at 5%.
I notice that in the VM settings for both internal and external it says “unknown IP”.
How can I solve? Thank you.
I’m slightly confused; are you trying to do a fresh install of Whonix for KVM, or are you attempting to take existing Whonix VMs for VirtualBox and move them to KVM? If you’re doing the latter, try doing the former instead.
Can you check the Tor logs and see if there are any errors or worrying messages that appear near the end? (Oftentimes the reason why an error occurs is specified somewhere above the error itself, so if you share logs or info from logs, please copy-paste the logs you want to share verbatim, and please share as much of the log as you can without exposing personal information.)
What VM settings are you looking at?
I recommend to try KVM “normally” before trying to migrate disk images if that is what you’re attempting.
To debug connectivity issues, see:
Thank you both for the replies. I’m trying to move an existing machine.
This is the logfile (I had to shorten it and remove repetitions due to character limit):

The options I’m looking at are the details of the virtual hardware, the once accessible by clicking the “i” blue icon in virt-manager. If I go to the virtual network interface “Whonix-External” it gives me the IP address 10.0.2.15, but if I choose the “Whonix-Internal” virtual network interface, it says “IP address: unknown”.
I can only refer to my previous comment.
I’ve solved.
The solution was to add firewall_backend = "iptables" to /etc/libvirt/network.conf in my host system.
Host operating system and version?
