New Qubes Templates?

Is this the Qubes “equivalent” to a updated qubes-template-whonix-*–17-0:4.2.0-20250812… currently in the qubes-templates-community-testing repo, should I be looking forward to a different set of Qubes 4.2.4 whonix templates, or is upgrading to Qubes 4.3rc1 atm and going from there the nearest “equivalent” , or am I missing another alternative?

Just attempting to stay current, if possible. Thank you again for all your great work all these years. As always please, delete / relocate / etc this post if you desire. Thanks again!

In-place release upgrade is possible using the Whonix repository.

New Qubes Template availability from Qubes templates-community (stable) is sometimes delayed due to mandatory waiting period.

If you’re release manager, you can issue GPG-inline signed command (depending on template):

• Upload-template r4.2 whonix-gateway-17 4.2.0-202508121120 templates-itl (available 5 days from now)
• Upload-template r4.2 whonix-gateway-17 4.2.0-202508121120 templates-community (available 5 days from now)

There is nothing urgent about this release.

New Templates are sometimes announced as a separate news. Sometimes only a message will be posted here:

You could follow the links to the Qubes ticket to see the latest status of the Template.

Such as:

• available in templates-community-testing repository;
• available in templates-community (stable) repository;
• ticket closed prior migration to templates-community (stable) repository (due to issues with the Template maybe)

It should be, if that is working correctly. I am not much a fan of GUI updaters and hiding details, prefer command line interface (CLI) based updates because then I see what is going on.
