It just means a text which gets append to each and every post. Whenever possible (usually just classic forums, forums other than discourse) allow it.

Even if just a small signature is allowed, configure one. Because later when account matures, changing the signature will usually change it in all old posts as well.

They don’t accept any HTML or Image preview signature e.g:
<a href="htthttp://www.auplod.com/i-odlaupaeb50.htmlp://www.auplod.com/i-odlaupaeb50.html"><img src="http://www.auplod.com/u/odlaupaeb50.png" alt="Image" border="0" /></a>
It will not preview it as an image. though here is a good one:
