Is vpn a better choice than bridges when ISP aggressively log everything?

I am a noob, so this question might sound stupid. My country does not respect personal privacy at all, and the law requires ISP to log everything and keep log for at least six months. I would rather let my VPN provider to log me(If they do not obey their no log promise). My current configuration is computer -> VPN -> tor. I am also playing videos/ downloading torrent through the vpn tunnel and I hope this will fool the deep packet inspection. Is this a good configuration?
