Even if e don’t use QXL, spice is still needed to stream guest graphics to host viewer.

Indeed I tried experimenting with this issue many times but to no avail. The current way KVM and Qemu work makes either SPICE or VNC mandatory as these are treated as (almost) completely separate system from the host, except for the network part that is the local interface that SPICE and VNC listens on.

If someone is more informed than me regarding this matter feel free to chime in.
