I just upgraded to whonix 18. I can’t restore my onion private key. I can’t enter in var/lib/tor using sysmaint , I get permission denied .
While in sysmaint mode, run sudo -i to get a root shell. Then you’ll be able to access /var/lib/tor. Take care to ensure any files you write in this directory are owned by debian-tor:debian-tor.

File permission modifications are done the same way as they are on Debian.
