I am following the guide on http://www.dds6qkxpwdeubwucdiaord2xgbbeyds25rbsgr73tbfpqpt4a6vjwsyd.onion/wiki/KVM#Decompress . I am doing the tar thing
~$ tar -xvf Whonix*.libvirt.xz

How much space do I need? I am reading http://forums.dds6qkxpwdeubwucdiaord2xgbbeyds25rbsgr73tbfpqpt4a6vjwsyd.onion/t/what-should-be-the-size-of-var-for-whonix-on-kvm/18022 , and it says both qcow images are 101G each, even though they are actually smaller according to http://www.w5j6stm77zs6652pgsij4awcjeel3eco7kvipheu6mtr623eyyehj4yd.onion/wiki/Sparse_files ?
Well, it does not really matter if they are really 1G in size if my computer thinks they are 100G in size and will not write data anymore. I do not have 200G of space to spare on my system.
Exactly how much space on my system do I need in order to install Whonix KVM? How much space do I need to install the virtualbox version instead? I would prefer to not use anything from the evil spyware Oracle company if I can avoid it (see http://forums.dds6qkxpwdeubwucdiaord2xgbbeyds25rbsgr73tbfpqpt4a6vjwsyd.onion/t/virtualbox-vs-kvm-and-oracle-tracking/19601/). Would it be better to run whonix on an external hard drive?
Thank you for your help. File system is ext4 by the way.
