Homepage is taking really long time to show up?

To reproduce,

  1. Launch the browser.
  2. Homepage will take more than a minute or so to come up.
  3. Hitting “New identity” solves this delay somehow.

By homepage, do you mean file:///usr/share/doc/homepage/whonix-welcome-page/whonix.html?

I get the same issue. I did not want to bring it up because I assume that it is tor-browser specific and therefore would be considered unspecific to whonix. In any case, I just press the x next to the page and refresh the page, and it comes up right away.

Known issue. Will be fixed upstream

The tor homepage is loaded from disk. If you have a HDD it takes longer compared to an SSD. This is a non-issue.

I didn’t know it would come up after a long time and assume it would never happen.

The effect for such few small files (less than 1 MB) would be negligible.
