Hiding usage of TOR from the website

Hey everyone,

I’m not new to Whonix, but I have a question about creating a new identity.

Let’s say you’ve just installed Whonix and are starting fresh. You want to create a new email, buy a VPS, etc. However, many websites won’t let you register an account because you’re using TOR.

What would you do in this situation?

I’ve installed Mullvad VPN on Whonix and enabled it, but I’ve noticed that all browser traffic is still blocked by TOR and Google Chrome.

Here are the potential solutions I’ve thought of:

  • Using a Proxy: It’s hard to get a proxy since even proxy-selling websites often block TOR users.
  • Using a VPN: This doesn’t seem to help, as most traffic still gets blocked.
  • Email Services: Some TOR-friendly email providers are available, so that’s not a big issue.
  • Anti-Detection Browser with Proxy: Would this work? And if so, how can I get a proxy?

But the main challenge is how to get a VPS if the provider blocks TOR. Does anyone have a good solution to this problem?

Thanks in advance for your help!

This isn’t simple. At time of writing, no great solutions are available. Should that improve one day and for reference, see here:

If using a VPN or other tunnel, you would need to follow documentation here:

Most likely, no. Because most blocks are IP based. Not browser detection based.
