GNU Tar question from newb

Hey!

If I were to install whonix from scratch using the KVM way.

I read the guide and it says the best way to extract is by using GNU Tar.

Am I right this is a software i need to download?

If it is how do I launch the software and what commands would I run within it to extract the content of the xz file to the home dir?

You should not need to download tar if you are using a Linux distro.

The instructions on this page show the commands you should use to extract the KVM images.

Hey SilentBob the Tar command worked fine after a complete reinstall of debian and kvm. Thanks for the help.
