I got this strange problem. I boot the gateway, have selected persistent mode and it comes up in read only mode. It does not do this every time. Every now and then. Its in this mode as I type this post. If I re-boot the gateway it will go into the mode selected by grub.
I clicked on live check and I get this: Live Mode Active: Yes (false)
Persistent Mode Active: No
If it was due to a corrupt file it would do all the time , no? Looking for an idea on how to solve.

Might not be read-only or even Live Mode.
You could try a Functionality Test of Live mode.
This could just be Live Check Systray Issues.
This problem took a while to show up. I did the suggested tests and it is not in live mode.
Created file is saved after a reboot. Lsblk shows all zeros for every partition. If I select live mode it is in live mode. Call this a ghost in the machine. Re- install should fix. Thanks.
