Forums is used for issue tracking, documented here: Issue Tracker
github is only used because some people insist on using it instead.
Preferably everything would be in the forums.

I am aware of that but the functionality of a bug tracker is quite different from that of a forum. The wrong tool makes the job harder for everyone. It’s your project.
Sorry for the off-topic.
…see the phabricator deprecation saga for what I have been working on in my free time for the past couple of months.
the wrong tool can make the job harder, but maintaining more tools is a pain in the ass, and our funding is limited. We get by fine using discourse for development tracking and bug reporting
Bug reporters contribute for free (zero funding, not just limited) and quality bug detection and reporting (which saves dev time) is not necessarily trivial. Contribution does not always mean money and while you may be comfortable with particular choices, others may not be willing to go an extra mile.

I have just been spammed with 960+ messages by phabricator-migrator.
Time to disable the so called mailing list mode.
This is the one day that has ever happened in many years of this forum. Sorry for the noise, but also deeply grateful we can turn off phabricator now. App has been a significant maintenance burden
973 migrated tickets total. Well done @Mycobee.
Thank you
It was a lot of work!
Now we dont have to spend our precious time babysitting a failed, abandoned, insecure, timesuck.
While you are congratulating each other, please kindly note that:
So, spam does not stop.
Because presumably outgoing mails are out of the forums and in the
mailer daemon already.
It is probably just the other 13+ migrated tickets you did not receive earlier, so now they are all accounted for.

Yes, it seems so.
