Enabling downloads or web browsing as sysmaint user

Hi, new user here, attempting to set up vera crypt on whonix, but cannot seem to enable a web browser as the sysmaint user in order to download software, also cannot enable the usb access to external drives to get it transferred over either despite enabling the settings for this.

Is there any way to set up browser so i can download the software package to install?

I have seen there are suggestions to use a 3rd party package manager but would be wary of 3rd parties in this.

Have tried to find any guides or user assistance docs to help with this but hitting blockers.

Would appreciate any help in either enabling sysmaint to allow access to usb stick where i can transfer the package over, or to enable a browser to download the files whilst in the sysmaint account, cannot seem to enable a shared folder for this purpose either.

Would appreciate any help on this, thanks

Should add, using virtual box for this

Best to use a command line downloader.

Thanks for that assist, have now been able to install as sysmaint user, but having an issue now in making the application available to the persistent user when switching over, cannot find the application under the applications tab in the persistent user. Also when then signing in as sysmaint again the application hasn’t persisted there either

Any suggestions?

Thanks

Never mind, have figured it out, my own doofus moment, was on the ephemeral sysmaint user by mistake, oops. All good now thanks for your assistance

Ah damn it, one thing after another on this. So having gotten everything working i now cannot access any veracrypt volumes, being asked for a user password or administrator password. Neither the user account password i set up works and as for the adminstrator password i had tried the default changeme also without success - getting

Permission denied:
/usr/bin/sudo

VeraCrypt::CoreService::StartElevated:451

Now, i know that is a veracrypt error, but i don’t follow why it is asking for passwords in the first place and why none of the whonix system passwords work when it seems to be a permissions password request?

Ok, so there is no way to get it to run basically without doing away with the sysmaint user entirely?

None available at time of writing. Should there be ever any good news, it will be posted in that forum thread.
