There is an updated version of MixMaster that supports 4096 bit keys other enhances. Does Whonix have that installed? If not could it be considered for the next version?

Not installed by default.
Not a good candidate for installation by default as per Whonix ™ Default Application Policy.
Only the one that is available from Debian gets installed by default. Documentation:
Ideally GitHub - merkinmuffley/mixmaster4096: mixmaster remailer with 4096-bit RSA would cooperate with them. Upstream the work.
Manual installation is not prevented as per Whonix ™ - Anonymous Operating System.
