How concerned should I be about the following messages in my Tor log if I use a dedicated SocksPort and my Whonix Gateway is an Isolating Proxy (Transparent Proxy disabled):
Your application (using socks4 on port) is giving Tor only an IP address. Applications that do DNS resolves themselves may leak information. Consider using Socks4A (e.g. via privoxy or socat) instead.
The workstation has no knowledge of your real IP address by design, and can only access DNS via a DNS port provided by Tor itself. As long as the app is running in the Workstation and you haven’t misconfigured anything somehow, you should be fine. If the app is running in the Gateway, you may have more to worry about.
