Can I use a different virtualization software?

Hi,

Virtual Box gives me an issue since I upgraded and downgraded my operative system, I can no longer open Whonix Gateway and Workingstation even after having changed the compatibility settings. There is an open ticket for the same issue here .

So I wonder if I can use another virtualization software instead. For example here there are some alternatives, what do you think about? Is it recommendable in your opinion?

(Since I am no expert with regard to virtualization and Whonix I want to avoid running the risk of having some other troubles by using a different software, in finding support, etc…)

Good day,

first of all, which host do you use? If it’s Ubuntu/Debian/Fedora, KVM would be an alternative. Second, none of these are compatible to Whonix, QEMU support was dropped a long time ago in favour of KVM, because of performance issues.

Have a nice day,

Hi,

thank you for replying!

I’m using VirtualBox on Windows 7 ultimate x64.

Good day,

sorry to say, but under Windows, there is no alternative for VBox.

Have a nice day,

Ok, thank you very much!

Just look at the home page or download page to see what other platforms
are supported.
