Blocking certain applications from accessing internet

Hi! I guess this is more of a newbie linux question but since I am using Whonix I thought it would be better to ask here about the best way to block certain applications like VLC from having any kind of internet access rather than just trying to apply random solutions you can find on search engines without actually knowing what I’m doing.
Can anyone give me some instructions ?

Thanks!

Sadly no easy solution per application, but what you can do is isolate internet (shut it down) per VM if you are using Qubes or KVM or Vbox.
