Whonix won't import all of a sudden

I just got a new laptop and put ubuntu on it, however, after installing virtualbox and downloading the two whonix files they won’t work at all!

Error message is

failed to important appliance (path)

Could not create the clone medium /home/usr/Virtualbox VMs/Whonix-Gateway/Whonix-Gateway-9.4-disk1.vmdk’ (VERR_ZIP_ERROR).

Very strange. Is it because it’s OVA not OVF? I dunno, really I’m at a loss, I’m sure it’s something simple

ova is VBox standard format, that we distribute. No changes here. Never distributed ovf.

Did you verify after download?

yes, it seems more a problem with virtualbox, tried a few things and they didn’t work, will keep at it
