You’re not supposed to do that.

You can change sys-whonix’s Net Qube setting from sys-firewall to sys-vpn. That would be okay.

But please do not attempt to use anon-whonix directly with sys-vpn. It’s not designed for that. anon-whonix should always be conneted to a Whonix-Gateway.

The onions are reachable on other machines just fine. But not thru the machine I am using qubes whonix. Can I enable it somehow by adding a line in the tor config?

Any onion proof of work issues:

• should be totally unrelated to use of VPN vs not VPN. Can you confirm that?
• could be due to the Tor version used by Whonix. But that’s not something you can easily fix as a user. It will get fixed at some point for sure. No ETA (estimated time of arrival). References:
  • Tor version 0.4.7.16 in Whonix 17 is now considered obsolete. Any action required?
  • Connections drop on Tor 0.4.8.9
