Whonix 17 End of Security Support and Deprecation Notice - All users should move to Whonix 18!

As per Whonix Support Schedule, this post serves as the Whonix version 17 deprecation notice.

Whonix 18 stable has been released for all platforms.

Whonix 17 will be deprecated on 06 February 2026.

All users should upgrade!

The more time that passes after the deprecation date, the harder or even impossible it might become to perform an in-place release upgrade.

Platform specific notice:

Non-Qubes-Whonix: No special notice.
Qubes-Whonix: Quote Support Schedule

Version 17: The goal is to provide support for as long as Qubes R4.2 receives security support from Qubes and Debian. [footnote in wiki]

The big problem is that shared clipboard does not work inside VirtualBox VM…
It is not clear how to work with a password manager that is on the host system
It is not an option to install your own password manager in each VM
