Tor Browser 9 - lockPref - false are ignored in my mozilla.cfg

Since TBB on version 9, many entries which I had set on
lockPref - false are ignored in my mozilla.cfg. Many settings are all on default - true :-/

…in the folder /defaults/pref/auto-config.js

I set:
pref(“general.config.filename”, “mozilla.cfg”);
pref(“general.config.obscure_value”, 0);

pref(“general.config.sandbox_enabled”, 0);
pref(“media.cubeb.sandbox”, false);

That brings me back a lot lockPref settings in my mozilla.cfg, but not all.

Many settings are on default - true. I cannot set it via mozilla.cfg anymore. My settings I’ve made are ignored.

With version 8 of TBB I had no problems with that.

I want it back and have control over that.
Can someone help?

Welcome to Whonix forums and thank you for your question.

  • Whonix is developed independently of Tor Browser by the Tor Project.
  • Tor Browser by The Tor Project is developed independently of Whonix.

Whonix changes to Tor Browser are on “the outside only”, “not in the inside”. For details see:

What you’re describing isn’t influenced by Whonix. Same would happen in a Debian buster based system most likely.

Since I don’t develop Tor Browser - I don’t know.

Therefore, you have a much better chance of directing this question at The Tor Project, the maintainers of Tor Browser. As per:

general.config.filename and general.config.sandbox_enabled don’t exist as preferences. I’m not sure why you would want to disable the sandbox anyway.
