Running Whonix through Oracle Virtualbox from USB on any computer

Hi

I was wondering if it was possible to run Whonix from a VM on a USB so that I can run it from any computer.

I’ve tried it and it doesn’t seem to work on any other machine other than the one I set it up on.

Thanks

This is more a VirtualBox than Whonix question as per https://www.whonix.org/wiki/About#Based_on_Debian. Would also apply to any non-Whonix VM.

We don’t have documentation for that. Contributions happily considered.

You not only need to handle the VM folder, but also the settings folder. Some more info on these folders:
https://www.virtualbox.org/manual/ch10.html#idp94907280

I would experiment with setting the environment variable(s). Then move the settings folder to USB. After you figured all of that out, for more convience, you can optionally start VirtualBox using a script located on USB that sets up the environment variable(s) for you.

Thanks for responding. Much appreciated.
