Pidgin crashes : issue

Hi,
Does anybody else have the same issue as I have since yesterday : Pidgin crashes after sending a mesage?
thx for your feedback

Version is Pidgin 2.14.1 (libpurple 2.14.1) witch is not the lastest.

It seems the bug has been corrected in the latest version. Hop can I upgrade my Pidgin please ?

user@host:~$ sudo apt install pidgin

Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree... Done
Reading state information... Done
pidgin is already the newest version (2.14.1-1).
0 upgraded, 0 newly installed, 0 to remove and 0 not upgraded.

Seems Pidgin 2.14.1 (libpurple 2.14.1) witch is not the lastest version is the lateset version available on Whonix.

Can’t upgrade it.

So bug will remain.

EDIT : new version is available on flatpaks. How can I change or add a new source for packages ? Is it risky or could it break my system?

Support would be very welcome.

I haven’t seen any reports about this specifically but see disclaimers. Prepare accordingly, backups, recovery…

Hello,

When will Pidgin be updated by the team ?

Latest version is Pidgin 2.14.8.

Pidgin 2.14.1 (libpurple 2.14.1) which is available with Whonix is very buggy.

Thanks for your answer.

Read the first link Patrick linked to, pay attention to this part in particular.

Kicksecure is based on the stable Debian distribution, software is normally “frozen” to the stable Debian version at the point of each major Debian release

The frozen packages policy means the versions of software installed from Debian package sources will not usually change when a newer release is made available by upstream.

The next release of Debian is currently in hard freeze, and the packaged version of Pidgin is 2.14.12-1. You can expect it to release in the next few months.

can’t use it for months what a great news.
Anyway thanks for your answer. At least I got one.

Try the installing a newer version with Flatpak, or backports.
