Password Change of Root Account does not persist in Live Mode

is there any way to avoid having to change the root password each time live mode is booted up?

if I do it in non-live mode, it won’t stay there

With what command did you change the root password?

Can you change the root password in persistent mode, reboot to persistent mode and the password is still the expected (changed) one?
