What are the advantages of using Whonix as the system for Onionbalance? To my understanding, Onionbalance only collects the introduction points from the Onion descriptors and publishes a master descriptor. This way Whonix should not make a big difference in usage, right? Also, if Onionbalance only publishes the master descriptor, the instance shouldn’t be hit by actual users, right?
I am aware of the amazing benefits of Whonix. My question is about how useful Onionbalance is in combination with Whonix. From my understanding Onion Balance is a separated system on a 5 USD VPS. It doesn’t look like doing much so isn’t Whonix not overkill for it?
The only way to find out would be remove Whonix from the question, make a generic argument and ask onionbalance developers.
Yes, that would be a good thing. From my understanding is Onionbalance doing so less and unfrequent that it shouldn’t matter.
What I meant to say: please ask upstream.
