mediawiki skins

https://www.ovirt.org still looks good. Is it still mediawiki based?

Good day,

No, it is based on Middleman now: https://middlemanapp.com/

Have a nice day,

foundationskin looks promising. However only with javascript enabled. Perhaps fixable. Perhaps this provider could be engaged.

Foundation is currently unavailable to download, but will be back by 28th February 2018 … watch this space!

Replacing mediawiki skin strapping gets more pressing since it’s unmaintained and doesn’t work with next stable version of mediawiki.

Mediawiki skin foreground is maintained and looks good. Since there is no big supply of skins and no suggestions were made, let’s use foreground.

Disadvantage is reliance on javascript, namely: The navbar (wiki header links HOME, DOWNLOAD, DOCS, HELP, NEWS)

The expand all / collapse all buttons on https://www.whonix.org/wiki/Documentation may not work anymore.
(expand all at once button for wiki/Documentation)

…unless we find someone to fix these issues. Funding available.

The JavaScript and Expand/Collapse All loss are big downers.

v4 of Foundation is available now -> https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Skin:Foundation Better option?

Looks like missing in action, deprecated. https://foundationskin.org offline for days.

Foreground skin is now installed. Please report anything broken not mentioned yet / feature requests. Might have someone to sort these out. Let’s see.

Very sexy.

Takes the Whonix website from 1990s Netscape Navigator to maybe Firefox 40 something.

Only thing is what about the spacing between paragraphs? Seems a little tight. Maybe you can fix that with some master setting?

The other minor irritations are (which you probably noticed):

  • Supersized font for bullet points in footer references.
  • Supersized font for quotes in footer references.
  • (Minor) Table bordering and/or background is a little faint compared to previous versions. Probably fixable with wiki tags.

In some areas table bordering in non-existent like in this VPN table.

Overall I really like the new skin.

The space between lines is too big, but the space between paragraphs is too small, right?

Tables should be fixable. Just needs basic CSS knowledge, I think.

{| border="1" cellpadding="4" cellspacing="0" style="margin: 1em 1em 1em 0; background: #f9f9f9; border: 1px #aaa solid; border-collapse: collapse;"

{| class="wikitable" style="background-color: #fff;text-align: center"

Do you think there is too much space left and right on any wiki page? Or is just my minority preference? Same for the forums. I always wonder why not use most of the screen. Why put it in center and leave the rest free.

Everything has to be in this task.
If not int hat task, unlikely will be fixed.

Just the space between paragraphs.

Tried that table formatting -> looks horrible. The current style is better.

Yes, agree with you on this.

Just seems to be the bullet points whenever used in footnotes e.g. footnote 76 and 104 here (it is replicated on all pages) ->

I think there is more space between lines then usual (compared with this forum for example). Too much.

Well, the code that I refereed wasn’t for usage. Only experimentation. there only shows two examples what’s possible. It should be possible to meld them when researching / experimenting enough / understanding enough of CSS. Maybe let’s post a new thread about this. CSS isn’t black magic and there might be someone in our community who knows that much.

https://phabricator.whonix.org/T809 updated.

This table https://www.whonix.org/wiki/Tor_Browser#Bypass_Tor_Censorship looks better.

Combination or darker code block and bold text is a little overpowering in these steps IMO. They looked OK prior to new skins.

Easy fix is to remove bold type?

Bold should be less bold?

Change text to non-bold

1. In Whonix-Gateway konsole, stop Tor.

__NOTITLE__ no longer works?

__NOTITLE__ no longer works?

That one always was flaky. Could never find an explanation why it works
and why when not.
