Can I use the Whonix gateway setup as a standalone router type thing and direct all the traffic from my network through it?

I’d be OK with just my computers going through this router, but all traffic would be ideal. Any suggestions?

I think I understand this, and that’s why I’d like to have the option to route everything through the Whonix gateway. Make sense?

What are the implications if I use the physical separation you mentioned and disconnected the host->internet connection?

I would have to have a gateway for each of my devices/computers, right?

Does anyone have a suggestion on what to use (e.i. bang-for-the-buck, ease of installation)?

I don't understand "disconnected the host->internet connection".

In other words, simply words: just putting a random device (mobile phone, Windows computer that has been used for non-anonymous activity) behind a Tor [Whonix-Gateway or any] alone won’t anonymize. It may be fine for circumvention, but not anonymization. This is because for example cookies linked to your real identity would leak your identity, even if you appear as using a Tor IP. And more. Therefore not using Whonix-Workstation is recommended against.

Usually one gateway can torify any number of workstations. Only for better security, multiple are better. (related: https://www.whonix.org/wiki/Multiple_Whonix-Workstations)
