i have a big problem with my Iceweasel Browser because all Captchas are marked as invalid, but the entry is correct. So i guess anything is blocking the captchas. I also cant log into my Mail.ru account through Iceweasel.
First, DON’T USE ICEWEASEL! EVER! It is not made for use with Whonix. Use the Tor Browser Bundle.
Second, DON’T MESS WITH ADDONS! This only destroys any kind of anonymity you can get. The thing is that, you’re supposed to use the Tor Browser Bundle, as it is able to somewhat hide you under all the other people using it, since after all they are all using the same configuration ans addons. Adding addons of any kind only destroys this.
Third, using a service like mail.ru over Tor doesn’t work, as they can tell where the traffic is coming from and block it automatically. Typing in captchas won’t help. Only a VPN at the end of your connection could camoflash that you access it using Tor. Adding to that, NEVER log into an account you used on the “normal” internet over Tor or the other way arround, as this destroys any kind of anonymity.
“Only a VPN at the end of your connection could camoflash that you access it using Tor” → I use a VPN when i am using iceweasel. I know that you cant log into a Mail.ru account via Tor, thats why i am using Iceweasel+VPN!!!
I have to use iceweasel for clear web operations and Iceweasel is automatically tunneled through TOR, because WHONIX W → WHONIX G → Inet!!!
So maybe you know now why captchas marked as invalid?
First, in your initial post, you nowhere mentioned that you used a VPN, so I couldn’t have known that. I only can make assumtions if such information is not laid out.
Now, how did you apply the VPN? Because it sound very much like it, that not the entire traffic is passed through it. Did you try a test for DNS leaks?
Also, like I’ve said before, the changes you made to iceweasel make you more traceable, not less, due to canvas fingerprinting…
“Now, how did you apply the VPN? Because it sound very much like it, that

I applied it through Openvpn in my Whonix Workstation. I also checked up DNS leaks by ipleak.net and whoer.net and everything works fine without any DNS leaks.
“canvas fingerprinting” There is an addon to prevent this.
“Or the website is using a mechanism that does the following:
“If using some public VPN [Tor, proxy, etc.] → always require captcha””
I checked up if i can log into Mail.ru through Tor Browser Bundle and it worked, so i dont think theres something like a filter.
under those circumstances, one of the Addons is at fault and sadly, we are unable to give support for features which are not implemented directly into Whonix.
Also, which plugin is capable of preventing canvas fingerprinting? Would be gratefull, if you could point me to one, as this has been a problem to which the TBB-developers only found the solution of making every user appear the same and discurage from changing browser settings…
