How do I install skype and other programs?

Hello

I had installed skype on whonix v10 but now i was forced to switch to v11, i finally made the step.

I completely deleted v10 and now I can’t install skype.
There is no way to install that .deb

I tried with apt-get install and here is the result :

user@host:~/Desktop$ sudo apt-get install "skype-debian_4.3.0.37-1_i386.deb"Reading package lists... Done Building dependency tree Reading state information... Done E: Unable to locate package skype-debian_4.3.0.37-1_i386.deb E: Couldn't find any package by regex 'skype-debian_4.3.0.37-1_i386.deb'

Then I tried “dpkg -i” and here is the result :
(Reading database … 88063 files and directories currently installed.)
Preparing to unpack …/skype-debian_4.3.0.37-1_i386.deb …
Unpacking skype (4.3.0.37-1) over (4.3.0.37-1) …
dpkg: dependency problems prevent configuration of skype:
skype depends on libasound2-plugins; however:
Package libasound2-plugins is not installed.

dpkg: error processing package skype (–install):
dependency problems - leaving unconfigured
Processing triggers for dbus (1.8.18-0+deb8u1) …
Processing triggers for mime-support (3.58) …
Processing triggers for hicolor-icon-theme (0.13-1) …
Errors were encountered while processing:
skype
So I installed libasound2-plugins
And then it worked.

Can’t I install it a better way with apt-get ? please ?

PS : I solved the problem while answering, it can help others.

Good day,

While it’s nice to see, that you could solve your problem, let me say that using Skype over TOR is maybe not in your best interest. Please read the following, to understand why this may create some issues of its own: Tips on Remaining Anonymous What applies to Facebook here applies to Skype as well, especially because you transmit your voice over it and it’s a proprietary software. Furthermore, using something like Skype over the TOR-Network simply is not a good idea, since the possible traffic on there is by design limited and shouldn’t be used up by things like P2P or VOIP. If you’re only interested in text communication, I would recommend a good OTR.

Have a nice day
