Could not resolve host: deb.debian.org

I’m trying to install unrar or something similar but I get this error in terminal:

"Could not resolve host: deb.debian.org"

I’m very new to this and I don’t know how to fix this issue. Just trying to be able to unzip files within Whonix.

I’ve also tried pinging debain.org and it fails.

can you put the output of:

sudo apt update

Another solution would be using .onion mirrors , and make sure your Tor connected to the internet.

to switch from .org to .onion edit /etc/apt/sources.list.d/debian.list

sudo nano /etc/apt/sources.list.d/debian.list

and delete everything and it should be:

deb tor+http://sgvtcaew4bxjd7ln.onion buster/updates main contrib non-free
#deb https://deb.debian.org/debian-security/ buster/updates main contrib non-free

deb tor+http://vwakviie2ienjx6t.onion/debian buster main contrib non-free
#deb https://deb.debian.org/debian buster main contrib non-free

#deb-src tor+http://sgvtcaew4bxjd7ln.onion buster/updates main contrib non-free
#deb-src https://deb.debian.org/debian-security/ buster/updates main contrib non-free

#deb-src tor+http://vwakviie2ienjx6t.onion/debian buster main contrib non-free
#deb-src https://deb.debian.org/debian buster main contrib non-free

then run and check

sudo apt update
