I am struggling with following the instructions in https[://]www[.]whonix[.]org/wiki/Qubes/Install
I have downloaded gw and ws-16 and got stuck at:
Configure sys-whonix and anon-whonix safely. [[9]][[10]][[11]][[12]][[13]]
[[10]] points to https[://]github[.]com/QubesOS/qubes-mgmt-salt-dom0-virtual-machines/blob/master/qvm/sys-whonix.sls
which in my understanding is a script, not reproduced here for brevity.
The script includes a comment:
Execute:
qubesctl state.sls qvm.sys-whonix dom0
which is similar with the next line in the instructions at https[:/]/www[.]whonix[.]org/wiki/Qubes/Install
Question: what to do with the script indicated by footnote [[10]], found at https[://]github[.]com/QubesOS/qubes-mgmt-salt-dom0-virtual-machines/blob/master/qvm/sys-whonix.sls
How/where to run the script? In dom0?
Should this be renamed as state.sls to make it consistent with the execute comment?
hope I do not take too much of your time, but my inexperience aside, the instructions are a bit confusing.
The text clearly reads:
Configure sys-whonix and anon-whonix safely.
followed by the footnotes.
If, as a user, the notes are to be ignored, then what is the meaning of the line? As an inexperienced user it feels that I would be skipping something that might be important, maybe for security purposes
why this, why that is not important: not a stickler
I am just trying to make sense of this: it would not make sense to use whonix if I use it incorrectly, confgure incorrectly.
One more question:
as a user the following line in instructions is also to be disregarded?
"
In dom0, run.
sudo qubesctl state.sls qvm.anon-whonix
"
