Cannot import whonix workstation / gateway

this is what comes up ;
Machine settings file ‘/home/myusername/VirtualBox VMs/Whonix-Gateway/Whonix-Gateway.vbox’ already exists.

could you check in the folder you safe your VMs to, wether you already have a settings file there named Whonix-Gateway?

yes i have it but cannot delete it nor will it run on my vrbox.
What happened is . i once had it running like a charm.
and somehow my vr box got deleted. so i re installed it and since then cannot get it to run.
and i have re- installed other Whonix packages.
i even tried to Purge the whonix files and , cannot get rid of them.
is there a way to solve this , i love whonix
