Please suggest small efficient GUI decompression tools to inlcude by default in xfce Whonix to make the experience frictionless for new users.
I’m going to add xarchiver and some standard tools like unxz, unrar, p7zip …

For libre choices we have either unrar-free or unar.
Unar supports more recent versions of the format, but is larger and has more deps.

Currently, both packages are installed. Is there any difference regarding the number of supported file formats or is one retundant?

unrar-free is redundant because it supports a smaller feature-set of unar
