How a software work without Tor?

Things like apt-get would reach Tor first , is it a newly install software directly reach the Internet?

Good day,

I’m not certain what you are asking. Connections are however only possible via Tor, even for software just installed on the Workstation.

Have a nice day,

As it has always worked? The only thing Tor (in the Whonix model) changes is it transparently anonymizes traffic from any software installed in the workstation whenever it connects to the network.

what if in Gateway, just want to try it

Good day,

You shouldn’t install things in the Gateway. There is no advantage in doing that.

Updates done via apt-get in the Gateway go through Tor as well though.
